Camp Information

Dates: Tuesdays:   9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21 * 10/28

Times: 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Ages: Division 1 (Grades 2 – 5)

Division 2 (Grades 6 – 9)

Both Divisions will be SEPARATED for the full clinic

Gender: Both Boys & Girls

Philosophy

We will try to make the game fun and enjoyable while stressing that basketball is a game of fundamentals.  Fundamentals are the key to success.  We encourage any level of play including beginners to join.  We will try to dictate the level of instruction to the individual needs of the student.  It’s never too early or late to learn.

Daily Schedule

Division 1 (Grades 2-5)

  • 7:00     Dribbling Stations
  • 7:25     Passing, Defensive Principles/Rebounding, Form Shooting, Ball Handling
  • 8:00     Shooting Games
  • 8:15     Competition Drills
  • 8:25     Wrap Up

Division II (Grades 6-9)

  • 7:00     Dribbling Stations
  • 7:15     Defensive Principles/Rebounding
  • 7:30     Form Shooting, Layups, Ball Handling, Getting to the basket, Jump Stops
  • 8:00     Competition Drills
  • 8:25     Wrap Up

Directors

Steve Harrington

Head Boys Basketball Coach, Watertown High School

Coach Harrington has guided the Red Raiders to seventeen straight tournament appearances while compiling 291 wins.   While at Watertown Coach Harrington has helped guide Watertown to 2 State Titles, 3 Emass Titles, 5 Sectional Titles, and 8 Sectional Finals.  Coach Harrington was recognized at the Boston Globe’s Division III Coach of the Year for 2002-2003 and 2006-2007. He is regarded as one of the best coaches in the area and has spoken and worked at numerous camps around Eastern Mass.

Brian Caira

Head Boys Basketball Coach, Stoneham High School

Coach Caira is currently in his first year as the Varsity basketball coach at Stoneham High School. Prior to getting his job at Stoneham, he was an assistant at Malden Catholic and Wilmington High School. A Wilmington native and 2006 graduate of Wilmington High, Caira helped lead his team to three consecutive Cape Ann League Championships, and was named a First-Team All Conference  player as well as a Lowell Sun All-Star and the Agganis All-Star Game MVP during his senior year. He continued his basketball career at Merrimack College.

Mark Papas

Director, Boston Warrior AAU Basketball

Coach Papas has developed one of the strongest AAU programs in the northeast. In 2013 eight teams qualified for the AAU National Championships.  Coach Papas was also recently elected into the New England AAU Hall of Fame.  His organization is considered one of the most talented and well organized in the region.  Mark has helped over 200 players to go on to play college basketball.

Registration

Students in grades 2-9 must check in Tuesday 9/301 at  6:45 pm at the Northeast Vocational School Gym.

Divisions

Students will be placed in the division that we feel will be the most beneficial to them.
